VGuide - multimedia visitor guide
The 'VGuide' visitor guide based on the WIN - Wireless Information Network - brings information
of high quality and depth into your exposition or your museum. Based on newest technology
VGuide allows the users to access multimedia data in a very straight forward manner.
Uses ordinary hardware
Over a WLAN network connected to a WIN server content is send to the cleint. There is no restriction
on the quantity of data. Even large video archives or photo collections may be made available.
The high bandwith of the WLAN technology makes viedo and audio streaming possible. Client devices of different manufacturers with different operating systems may be used. This is possible du the flexible SuperWaba Open Source Framework. The PDA and Smartphone devices only need to have a WLAN interface build in.
Uncomplex handling
The client software installed on the devices is very easily handled. Even users with few or no
experience handling mobile devices do not have any difficulties accessing the information
provided by the VGuide. The application recognises available WLAN Networks and displays the
content offered on this networks. Within these the user may navigate and access the desired
information.
Position based
Depending on the current position the information offered to the user may vary. The position may
be found out in a different granularity, depending on the WLAN infrastructure. Inside an exposition
the position of the user may be tracked as exact as the current room or the current painting
the user stands in front.
Intaraktive
Content may not only be polled by the user, but the user can interact with the system as well
The visitors may p.e. vote for the most popular exposed object, leave the contact data or
participate in a competition. Much more scenarios are imaginable.
Pushed content
If some new information is emerging content may be pushed to the client. So the user is
